Interesting post
Here’s an interesting post from Jayarava on the topic of female ordination in Buddhism. In it he argues that there is evidence of early female ordinations in Buddhism, and that the later business about the Buddha having to be persuaded to ordain his aunt, Mahaprajapati, and only agreeing to do so if extra rules were imposed on the nuns is a later invention.
In other words, women were originally welcomed as monastics in Buddhism, but the tradition became distorted and biased against women.
