Turning Hindrances Into Allies (Four-week meditation course)
“We tend to think of the traditional hindrances to meditation as being, well, hindrances. Bodhipaksa will explain how looking into the depths of these experiences can reveal them to be powerful teachers: mirrors that reveal our deeper spiritual needs.”

Entering Dhyana (weekend retreat)
“For most people, the experience of dhyana (intense concentration accompanied by bliss) is a hit-or-miss affair. This is unfortunate, especially since the Buddha repeatedly emphasized the value of such experiences as a preliminary step toward enlightenment. On this retreat, Bodhipaksa will outline techniques and strategies to help us get into dhyana more easily.”

Revisiting Living as a River
Many people have by now read Bodhipaksa’s latest book, Living as a River, and Bodhipaksa has received a multitude of very appreciative comments. Following recent discussions about how the book has affected people’s practice and has stimulated further reflection, Bodhipaksa would like to spend a day learning from his readers!
He would like to gather together a group of people who have read his book, so that he can learn more about how Living as a River has impacted you. He wants to what worked for you, what didn’t, and above all he wants to hear your unique take on the themes the book explores, and about any insights you’ve gained.

Abiding in Ease, Here and Now (meditation retreat)
“For one who is at ease — his body calmed — the mind becomes concentrated.” (Ananda Sutta)
This week-long retreat is an opportunity to unplug, unwind, and to relearn simplicity. With a light program of meditation, the emphasis on this retreat is on simply being. We will enjoy being with others, we will take time to be with nature, and we will learn to be more at ease with our own minds.
The event is suitable for anyone, from complete newcomers to old hands.

The Joy Factory
No, The Joy Factory is not the latest hot indie sensation. This weekend Aryaloka’s going to be the place where we deepen our understanding of what creates happiness in our lives, and the place where we create joy. Because although happiness can seem elusive, the Buddha pointed out that happiness and its opposite are created in predictable ways. Our problem is simply that we’re not clear enough about what leads to suffering and what leads to joy. Bodhipaksa will guide us with instruction in meditation and in daily living as we sharpen our tools for creating happiness and learn to create bliss by the overflowing bucketful.
The event is suitable for anyone familiar with the mindfulness of breathing and development of lovingkindness meditations.

Becoming a Spiritual Rebel
What are we looking for? What gives our lives a sense of meaning? How can we find a sense of confidence in a world marked by change?
In the “Noble Quest” sutta from the Middle Length Sayings, the Buddha offers a first person guide to the pursuit of a meaningful life. Drawing on his own life story, he beautifully outlines the creative spiritual restlessness that drove him to reject any goal short of complete awakening.
On this weekend, led by Bodhipaksa, we’ll explore the Buddha’s teaching on attaining the sorrowless state, and get in touch with the “spiritual rebel within.”
Bodhipaksa has been a member of the Triratna Buddhist Order since 1993.

Dear Bodhipaksa,
I am the co-editor of the meditation page for the website: allthingshealing.com. I gather 5 articles per week to publish on my page. I would love to share any of your articles that I may from Wildmind. Right now I’m specifically looking at the one titled: Publilius Syrus, “To do two things at once is to do neither.” Please let me know if that is ok. I will also add any links that you would like and would like to attach your bio (http://www.bodhipaksa.com/about). Thanks, Eden Kozlowski
Sure, feel free to republish that article, as long as you link it to Wildmind (http://www.wildmind.org). It would be helpful if you could link using the words “Wildmind Meditation.”
Thanks for asking!
Hi my name is Steve Bonnell and I am helping do events coordination for East West Bookshop of Seattle and we wanted to inquire about the possibility of a SKYPE event with you. East West has had several successful SKYPE events within the last year hosting such authors as Bruce Lipton, Sonia Choquette, Jon Gabriel and Dan Millman and our customers have really enjoyed the intimacy and interactive qualities of SKYPE at East West as well. We’ve sold your guided meditation CDs in the store for years with great success and would enjoy hosting an interactive SKYPE event with you. Please let me know if this sounds interesting to you as we are trying to get all of our dates for our fall newsletter booked within the next week or so. Thank you for your consideration.

Events Coordination Team
Hi Steve,
It’s funny, but I’ve been planning to call you, not about Skype events, but about a book launch. Sounds True is bringing out “Living as a River,” a book on embracing change, on Oct 1. I’m waiting to hear whether I’ll be presenting at a conference in San Francisco, but once the dates were confirmed I was intending to see if I could arrange a book launch at your place. It would be in late October, most likely.
But yes, a Skype event would be excellent. I meditate with a friend using Skype quite often, and I’m pleased you’re using it in this innovative way. What kind of dates are we talking about? I guess it wold be easier to do this by email. My address is “bodhi” on one end of the @ and wildmind.org on the other.
I am happy to read yours buddhist life.
